Navigating the Week: From Interjections to Cliffside Adventures

It's been a week of exciting discoveries and hands-on experiences in our classroom. From delving into the intricacies of grammar to exploring tectonic plates, fractions, robotics, and artistic endeavors, our students have been on a journey of learning and growth. Here's a recap of the week's adventures:

Grammar Galore: Interjections, Capitalizations, Homophones, and Quotation Marks

Our grammar lessons have been a whirlwind of linguistic exploration. This week, we delved into the world of interjections, exclaimed "Oh my!", honed our skills in capitalization, navigated the tricky waters of homophones, and fine-tuned our understanding of the proper use of quotation marks. It's been an adventure in language!

Literary Exploration with "Call it Courage"

In our reading journey with "Call it Courage," the protagonist Mafatu faces the challenges of surviving a storm and being stranded on an island. The central question lingers: Will he develop the courage to endure? Engage your students in conversations about the descriptive language they are encountering, fostering a deeper connection with the story.

Fractions, Decimals, and a Dash of Algebra

Mathematics took center stage as we continued our exploration of fractions. Converting them to decimals, simplifying, and delving into the realms of long division and lowest common denominators were part of our mathematical odyssey. Excitingly, we introduced variables, laying the foundation for future algebraic adventures.

Robotics Fun: Building Hoppers and Teamwork

In the realm of robotics, creativity soared as we built Hoppers to enhance our design skills. Collaborating in teams, students worked on different prototypes to determine the fastest walker across a smooth table. Obstacles were introduced to add an extra layer of challenge. The teamwork displayed was truly commendable.

Unveiling Earth's Secrets: Tectonic Plates in Science

Science class delved into the fascinating world of tectonic plates. Understanding how continents move, and exploring the interactions of the Earth's crust that result in earthquakes and volcanoes, provided a captivating look into Earth's dynamic processes.

Artistic Adventures with Clay

Creativity took a tactile form in our art class as we started working with clay. From forming bowls to ensuring a crack-free finish, students used their hands to gently mold and stretch the clay. Tools were employed to smooth the exterior, creating beautiful, mark-free creations.

Zion Adventure: Scaling Heights with Via Ferrata

Our Zion Adventure took us to new heights – quite literally! Scaling the Via Ferrata, with steel rungs up the side of a cliff, 120 feet in the air, was an exhilarating experience. Rappelling, climbing, and hiking against the backdrop of stunning scenery and great weather made it a truly amazing adventure.

Fall Break Reminders

A gentle reminder for all parents: Next week brings Fall Break, with no school on Thursday or Friday. We hope everyone enjoys a well-deserved break!

Gratitude for Parent-Teacher Conferences

A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who attended the recent parent-teacher conferences. The discussions about your students' successes and future goals were truly enriching. For those yet to meet, I look forward to our upcoming conversations over the next week.

Wishing you all a fantastic weekend of relaxation and family time.

Best regards,

The Teacher (Tim)
